US tube mills announce HSS price increase

US tube mills, including Nucor, Atlas Tube, and Bull Moose Tube, among others, have announced plans to raise US domestic HSS prices by $7.50 cwt. ($65/mt or $150/nt), effective immediately.  According to language in Nucor's announcement, “This increase is a result of rising raw material costs and strong demand.”

This is the third increase announce pushed out by tube mills in the past 4 weeks. Today’s announcement brings the average HSS spot market price to $69 cwt. ($1,521/mt or $1,380/nt) FOB mill.
