Iron ore prices in the global markets have not recorded significant changes during the October-November period, with prices fluctuating in a maximum range of $10/mt. Meanwhile, scrap prices, which had indicated upticks in late October, have been following a stable trend in the past few weeks after transaction prices softened by $5/mt in early November. The Turkish pig iron market is not expected to pick up in the short term amid weak demand in the finished steel market in Turkey and the traditional slowdown in the steel markets towards the end of the year.
Ukrainian pig iron export offers are ranging at $390-395/mt FOB, though for large volume purchases these prices, which are equivalent to $410-415/mt CFR Turkey, discounts of up to $5-10/mt are available.
