Sources close to SteelOrbis have confirmed that US scrap prices in the Ohio Valley have settled up by $30/gt ($31/mt) across the board during this month’s buy cycle.
Prices on the US East coast are up by a similar range, sources note, adding that the range for P&S scrap was “up between $20-$30/gt ($20-$31/mt).”
Some sources said that they believe that the market “might be losing steam for February,” adding that while historically, scrap prices in February have trended at soft sideways, some believe that prices could remain steady during next month’s buy cycle.
