Two Izmir-based Turkish steel producers have increased their ship scrap purchase prices by $7/mt, with the general price range settling at $320-342/mt. Market sources in the region report that producers have used a lot of ship scrap to meet their needs for higher grades. “We realize that we have consumed too much local scrap, particularly ship scrap. Availability has been impacted and is now on the low side,” a source in the region commented.
In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
| Producer | Price ($/mt) | Price change ($/mt) |
| Özkan Demir Çelik | 340 | 0 |
| Habaş | 320 | 0 |
| Ege Çelik | 342 | +7 |
| İDÇ | 342 | +7 |
All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
