Following the decisions to stop accepting ship scrap made by IDC, Habas and Cebitas yesterday, March 22, four of the Izmir-based Turkish mills have announced new ship scrap purchase price levels today. IDC and Habas have set their ship scrap purchase quotations at $380-385/mt, which is in line with the other mills’ prices at $380/mt - $5/mt lower as compared to yesterday. On Friday, March 19, the ship scrap purchase quotations of IDC and Habas were at $410/mt and $420/mt, respectively. As a result, Turkish ship scrap purchase prices are now in the range of $380-385/mt, with Cebitas still staying out of the market. By this move, ship scrap purchase quotations in Turkey are now $40-45/mt lower than the levels recorded on March 1.
