Turkish mills raise ship scrap prices significantly

As the sharp uptrend in the deep sea scrap segment in Turkey continues, producers in Turkey’s İzmir region have raised their ship scrap purchase quotations significantly. The rise has been within the range of $10-35/mt, mostly pushing prices to $400/mt, with only one mill’s quotations at a lower level, at $388/mt. As a result, ship scrap prices have increased by $23/mt on the lower end and by $10/mt on the upper end as compared to the levels recorded on December 11.

In Turkey's Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
