Turkish mills hike their local scrap purchase prices by $3-8/mt

Turkey’s local scrap market has continued to trend upwards during the current week as Turkish mills are seeking some support against the high offers shared by foreign scrap suppliers. Some Turkish mills have increased their quotations by the range of TRY 200-400/mt or $3-8/mt during this period. Unchanged TRY-based prices have been matched by a $1/mt drop in the dollar prices due to the depreciation of the Turkish lira.

The general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved up from TRY 14,600-16,650/mt to TRY 14,600-17,050/mt. Due to the fluctuations observed in the exchange rate, the dollar-based quotations have changed from $337-384/mt to $336-392/mt.
