Turkish mills hike local scrap purchase prices

Friday, 17 October 2025 17:56:11 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Some Turkish mills have increased their domestic scrap purchase prices over the past week. The rise was TRY 20-500/mt or $0-11/mt in this period, while the stable lira-based prices resulted in a $1/mt decline in dollars. Only one producer has corrected its price downward, by TRY 300/mt or $5-6/mt, this week. The uptrend in the local scrap market reflects that in the deep sea scrap segment.

The general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved up by TRY 300/mt on the upper end to TRY 12,800-14,600/mt. Due to the slight fluctuations observed in the exchange rate, the dollar-based prices have moved down by $1/mt on the lower end and up by $6/mt on the upper end to $305-348/mt.
