Turkish domestic scrap market mostly stable

Having been generally moving sideways, some price reductions have also been observed in the local Turkish scrap market. As compared to the previous SteelOrbis report published on Thursday, September 24, some mills have reduced their domestic scrap purchase prices by TRY 40-80/mt or $11-16/mt, while the dollar-based quotations of the other mills have decreased by $5-7/mt. The main reason of the downtrend observed in the dollar-based prices is the sharp depreciation of the Turkish lira against the dollar. As of today, September 28, the benchmark DKP grade scrap quotations in Turkey are in the range of TRY 1,950-2,345/mt or $249-300/mt.
