Two Izmir-based Turkish steel producers have increased their ship scrap procurement prices by $4-5/mt, with the general range settling at $320-346/mt, $6/mt higher on the upper end. Turkish mills’ local scrap consumption has increased in recent months, market sources report, particularly when they try to curb increases in deep sea scrap prices.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer   Price ($/mt) Price change ($/mt)
Özkan Demir Çelik 345 +5
Habaş  320 0
Ege Çelik  346 +4
İDÇ  342 0

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
