Following the ex-UK deal to Turkey recorded earlier this week, an ex-Belgium booking has pushed down prices slightly for European HMS I/II 80:20 scrap.

SteelOrbis has learned that the booking was done by an Iskenderun-based mill yesterday, May 26, for 25,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at $446/mt CFR and 15,000 mt of bonus grade scrap at $471/mt CFR, for June shipment. Accordingly, SteelOrbis has revised its ex-EU scrap price to $446-455/mt CFR, from $450-455/mt CFR. Despite the slight decrease in prices, the general sentiment remains the same in Turkey’s import scrap market and market players still think that these levels will constitute the bottom level in the market.

Meanwhile, as of today, May 27, the workable levels for ex-Romania HMS I/II 80:20 scrap are considered to be in the range of $410-415/mt CFR Marmara and Izmir. “We are facing difficulties in finding offers to Turkey from Romania,” a seller commented.
