As deep sea scrap prices for Turkey have increased in the most recent deals, Turkish mills have also agreed to accept higher price levels for short sea cargoes.

According to sources, some small HMS I/II 80:20 lots have been sold from Romania mainly to Turkey’s Marmara region at $261-263/mt CFR, while the same scrap grade from Bulgaria has been booked at $260-261/mt CFR. The total tonnage is estimated at around 10,000 mt, SteelOrbis has learned. As a result, short sea suppliers have managed to sell at over $260/mt CFR, while early this week their offers were at $255/mt CFR on average.

Some improvement has been seen in scrap sales from Israel. The workable level for HMS I/II 75:25 is reported at $245/mt CFR Turkey, up $5/mt compared to the previous transaction.

In the meantime, there is no interest in Russia’s ex-Rostov scrap cargoes for now, which are on offer currently at $270/mt CFR for HMS I/II 90:10, SteelOrbis has learned.

No fresh deals have been reported yet in the deep sea segment. However, according to sources, there are offers for HMS I/II 80:20 at up to $275-280/mt CFR.
