Having started the week yesterday, April 24, due to the official holiday on Monday (April 23), it is observed that Turkish steel mills’ demand for scrap have increased since yesterday. Following the HMS I/II 80:20 scrap deals heard at the beginning of the week for ex-UK scrap at $340/mt CFR Turkey and ex-Baltic scrap at $345/mt CFR Turkey, Turkish buyers seeking to conclude new transactions are struggling to find these price levels on offer today. While most suppliers in the Baltic region and Europe are offering prices for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap above the $350-355/mt CFR Turkey levels, US suppliers are giving offers to Turkey for the same grade at $358-360/mt CFR at least. Meanwhile, new import scrap deals are expected to be heard in Turkey this week.
