Some Turkish mills cut their domestic scrap purchase prices

Friday, 22 January 2021 15:58:48 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Some Turkish mills have announced reduced domestic scrap purchase prices on Turkish lira basis as compared to the levels recorded on January 21, with the decrease in the range of TRY 10-110/mt or $1-15/mt, depending on the buyer and grade. The dollar-based quotations of the other mills which decided to keep their lira-based prices unchanged have remained stable as the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate has moved sideways.

Since yesterday (January 21), the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved down from the range of TRY 3,150-3,575/mt to TRY 3,120-3,525/mt, while the dollar-based quotations have decreased from the range of $426-483/mt to $422-476/mt.
