Scrap suppliers have mostly kept prices stable in the Asian market this week, with only a slight increase seen for the raw material in Taiwan and Vietnam.

Offer prices for ex-US HMS I/II (80:20) in Taiwan have been at $245-250/mt CFR with some tonnages sold at $245-247/mt CFR, sources said. Last week, deals were signed at $245/mt CFR maximum.

In Vietnam, offers for ex-US HMS I/II (80:20) have stayed unchanged at $275-285/mt CFR following the sharp increase last week. But customers have been not interested in purchases at such high prices and have focused on negotiations with Japanese suppliers. Offers for Japanese H2 scrap have been at $265-270/mt CFR, with the lower end of the range adding $5/mt over the week.
