It is heard that the number of bids given for a tender opened for small tonnages of short sea scrap by a Turkish steel mill yesterday, November 6, are far below expectations. It is observed that Russian HMS I/II 90:10 scrap is offered at $335/mt CFR to Turkey, while a Baltic-based supplier is offering HMS I/II 80:20 scrap to Turkey at $345/mt CFR. However, Turkish steel mills consider these price levels to be on the high side both for small and large tonnages, and are targeting lower quotations.
