Fresh scrap deals from Romania have been closed to Turkey this week and the market has finally seen prices for short sea material above $270/mt CFR. Around 10,000-12,000 mt were of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap were sold at $271-272/mt CFR, up $5/mt compared to the previously fixed levels. New offers from Romania are reported at $275/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has learned.
The latest offers from Israel for HMS I/II 75:25 scrap were reported on December 4 at $260/mt CFR, which was considered to be overpriced. This week, mills say the workable levels for scrap of the mentioned origin are estimated at $248-250/mt CFR, while last week a deal was closed at $242/mt CFR, sources report.
In the deep sea segment, sentiment continues to improve. According to some sources, soon the market might hear levels of $288-290/mt CFR as fixed in deals.
