Turkish steel producers proceed with the short sea scrap purchased, aiming to put additional pressure on the deep sea prices along with the regular restocking operations. The raw materials prices from the nearby countries have naturally weakened over the week as well.

According to the market sources, 3,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 ex-Romania were sold to Marmara at $260/mt CFR. Same price was fixed for a total of 10,000 mt of same scrap grade from Croatia and Bosnia to the producers in Izmir and Marmara. In addition, a Russian supplier closed a deal at $270/mt CFR Izmir for the shipment from Rostov, but for the HMS I/II 90:10 scrap. Over the week the short sea HMS I/II 80:20 prices decreased by $5-8/mt, SteelOrbis estimates.
