Ship scrap purchase prices increase again in Turkey’s Izmir region

While import scrap prices continue to trend upwards, Turkish mills have remain focused on sourcing scrap, including ship scrap, locally. In order to maintain scrap inflows, most Izmir region-based steel producers have increased their ship scrap purchase prices by $10/mt compared to last week. As a result, currently their ship scrap purchase price levels are at $280-285/mt CPT, with only Cebitas being out of the market. Higher prices may be seen for ship scrap in Izmir if the trend in the import scrap segment strengthens, SteelOrbis understands.

In Turkey's Aliaga region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
