Ship scrap prices in Turkey decrease further

Turkish steel producers in the Izmir region have reduced their domestic ship scrap prices further after the downward revisions seen earlier this week. The new levels are at $276-282/mt CPT, down $5-6/mt from the previous levels, SteelOrbis has learned. The key reason for the decline is the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment as the mills’ demand for import purchases is currently weak, sources say.

In Turkey's Aliaga region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer

Price ($/mt)

Weekly change ($/mt)

Habaş

282

-5

Ege Çelik

276

-6

İDÇ

280

-5

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
