Sharp increase in Turkish ship scrap market

Izmir-based Turkish mills have raised their ship scrap purchase quotations sharply by $5-20/mt today, February 25. As a result, the general range of ship scrap purchase quotations in Turkey has increased from $385-400/mt to $400-410/mt. The increases recorded in the ship scrap segment have reached to $30-40/mt since the start of the uptrend on February 11, depending on the buyer. Meanwhile, market sources state that the flow of ship scrap to mills is still sufficient.

In Turkey's Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
