Domestic scrap purchase prices have been adjusted this week in Russia, mainly as buyers have been trying to offset currency fluctuations. As a result, some of them have increased their scrap purchase price levels by RUB 300/mt in order to match the dollar price increase of $5/mt seen since earlier this week, while some have cut prices by RUB 100/mt in order to keep their US dollar equivalent stable.
It is worth mentioning that some Russian mills are reported to be considering decreasing their scrap purchase prices in June, taking into account the decrease seen in Turkey and since the future trend is rather unclear for now.
