Sales in Turkish ship scrap market come to a halt

In Turkey's Aliaga region - the only region in the country where ship scrapping is allowed - ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers, which were at $230-265/mt ex-yard last week, have declined by $20/mt on average week on week to $210-245/mt ex-yard.
 
Meanwhile, market sources state that sales in the ship scrap market have almost come to a halt amid the absence of new import scrap deals in Turkey and due to the cautious approach of buyers towards new deals.
