On January 15, SteelOrbis reported that US-based buyers were willing to conclude basic steelmaking pig iron deals at $350-360/mt CFR.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that US buyers have recently concluded deals at $345-352/mt CFR from the CIS region, reportedly ex-Ukraine. The price level is estimated at $325-330/mt FOB Black Sea. The deal level has declined $13-20/mt from deals in December which were reportedly concluded at $365/mt CFR. Sources report offers now at $350-360/mt CFR from that region.

From Brazil, a source reported basic steelmaking pig iron offers at $305-320/mt FOB Southern Brazil, down $20-25/mt from offers heard in the market in the first week in January. Offers from Northern Brazil were reportedly mute in the market as material in the region is sold out until March and regional sellers are likely to return to the market in February.
