One Turkish mill returns to ship scrap market, price falls on lower end

As of today, May 16, Ozkan Demir Celik* has returned to Turkey’s ship scrap market. The mill had closed its ship scrap procurement almost ten days ago and the last price announced by the producer was $530/mt before stopping ship scrap purchases. The other two mills in the market have kept their ship scrap purchase prices stable today, May 16, with the general range now at $405-420/mt, $5/mt lower as compared to Friday, May 13. Sentiment remains negative in Turkey’s scrap market, but the Izmir-based mills have started to report that ship scrap flow to yards has slowed down significantly after the recent sharp declines in procurement prices.
