Most Turkish mills have reduced their domestic scrap purchase prices as compared to the levels recorded on January 22, with the decrease in the range of TRY 20-200/mt or $2-26/mt, depending on the buyer and grade. The dollar-based quotations of the other mills which decided to keep their lira-based prices unchanged have increased by $1/mt as the Turkish lira has regained some strength against the US dollar.
Since Friday, January 21, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved down from the range of TRY 3,120-3,525/mt to TRY 2,950-3,525/mt, while the dollar-based quotations have decreased from the range of $422-476/mt to $400-478/mt.
