Local Turkish scrap purchase price range stable despite cuts by some mills

Thursday, 26 August 2021 16:34:16 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Today, August 26, some Turkish mills have decreased their domestic scrap purchase prices by TRY 20-100/mt or $1-10/mt, depending on grades, on the back of the appreciation of the Turkish lira against major currencies. Other steelmakers have just kept their quotations stable, which resulted in $1-2/mt increase in their dollar-based prices. One Iskenderun-based mill stated that it has stopped accepting domestic scrap for now.

Despite the reductions by mills, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has remained at TRY 3,600-4,305/mt, while the dollar-based quotations have moved from $429-513/mt to $431-515mt.
