Local Turkish scrap prices surge again

Monday, 17 May 2021 16:49:16 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Since SteelOrbis’ report published on May 11, some Turkish mills have increased their local scrap purchase prices by TRY 100-220/mt or $10-24/mt, while others have kept their prices unchanged, resulting in a $2/mt decrease in their dollar-based prices. The increases announced in mills’ domestic scrap purchase quotations are interpreted as a measure to stabilize scrap flow.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved sideways at TRY 3,400-4,330, while the dollar-based quotations have moved from $409-521/mt to $407-519/mt.
