Local Turkish scrap market continues its downtrend

Friday, 29 January 2021 16:06:55 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Most Turkish mills have announced further decreases in their domestic scrap purchase prices today, January 29, as compared to the levels recorded yesterday, reducing their prices by TRY 30-95/mt, with these mills’ dollar prices indicating a sideways movement for some grades or a $3-9/mt decrease for others. The dollar-based quotations of the other mills which decided to keep their lira-based prices stable have increased by $3-4/mt as the Turkish lira has gained strength against the US dollar.

Since yesterday, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved down from TRY 2,900-3,375/mt to TRY 2,850-3,325/mt, while the dollar-based quotations have decreased from the range of $392-457/mt to $389-454/mt.
