Although import scrap prices in Turkey have not increased in the current week, ship scrap purchase prices have risen slightly as last week they had lagged behind the increases recorded in import scrap quotations. Additionally, Turkish steel mill Kaptan Demir Celik has also entered the ship scrap market, with its scrap purchase price currently at $268/mt ex-yard.

In Turkey's Aliaga region - the only region in the country where ship scrapping is allowed - ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer

Price ($/mt)

Habas

268

Ege Celik

268

IDC

268

Ozkan Demir Celik

265

Cebitas

250

All the above prices are delivered to mill by truck.
