Latest situation in Turkish ship scrap market

The domestic ship scrap purchase quotations of Turkish steel producers, which were at $215-225/mt ex-yard last week, have increased by $5/mt on the upper end over the past week to $215-230/mt ex-yard. Meanwhile, demand for ship scrap in Turkey's Aliaga region - the only region in the country where ship scrapping is allowed - has remained at medium levels and is not expected to record any significant improvement in the short term. On the other hand, ship scrap quotations are expected to increase due to the anticipated rise in transaction activity after the Feast of Sacrifice holiday (September 12-15).
