SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that ship scrap prices in Turkey's Aliaga region - the only region in Turkey where ship scrapping is allowed - have declined by $5/mt during the past week to $275-280/mt ex-yard. Some steel producers have reduced their purchase prices for ship scrap in parallel with the declines seen in import scrap prices, while others are expected to follow their example in the coming days. Besides, demand for ship scrap from Turkish steel producers' has almost come to a halt due to their planned overhauls which will start soon.
