On April 20, SteelOrbis reported domestic Japanese H2 scrap prices for mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya regions stable week-on-week at JPY 32,600-33,100/mt ($303-307/mt) delivered to customer. Shindachi scrap was also reportedly stable at JPY 36,500-37,000/mt ($339-344/mt) delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that H2 scrap prices in the same regions mentioned above have since ticked up in domestic currency terms. H2 scrap prices are now reportedly at JPY 33,000-33,300/mt ($302-305/mt) delivered to customer. Shindachi scrap is also reportedly mostly stable at JPY 36,900-37,300/mt ($338-342/mt) delivered to customer. Sources note that prices at blast furnace mills are slightly higher.

Due to currency fluctuations, both H2 and Shindachi scrap prices declined $1/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $2/mt from the top of the same range.
