On December 7, SteelOrbis reported that domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya decreased to JPY 30,600-30,900/mt ($271-274/mt) while shindachi scrap also decreased to JPY 35,800-36,100/mt ($317-319/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that while the latest Tetsugen scrap auction trended down sharply in December, the effect had been reflected in H2 and shindachi scrap domestic scrap prices over the past month, therefore, Japanese domestic scrap prices are reportedly trending only slightly down. H2 scrap prices in the regions mentioned above are reportedly at JPY 30,300-30,600/mt ($267-270/mt) while shindachi scrap also decreased to JPY 35,400-35,700/mt ($312-315/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

H2 scrap prices decreased $4/mt while shindachi scrap prices decreased $5/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $4/mt from the top of the same range.
