Heavy snowfalls and harsh winter conditions are hitting scrap supplies and transportation, particularly in Ukraine and Russia.

In Romania, where the weather situation is relatively better, scrap collection prices are standing at $395-405/mt, while A3 scrap offers from Romania to Turkey are at $425-430/mt CFR. However, these ex-Romania A3 scrap offers are not acceptable to Turkish mills, as they have lately been able to buy ex-US HMS I/II 80:20 at $430/mt CFR. SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that Turkish mills may only consider purchasing ex-Romania A3 scrap at $420/mt CFR.
