Further reductions in local Turkish scrap prices

Tuesday, 28 January 2020 17:25:00 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Some of the key steel producers in Turkey, including Colakoglu Metalurji, have reduced their domestic scrap purchase prices today, January 28, by TRY 20-40/mt or $3-7/mt depending on the buyer and the raw material grade. The key reason is the unclear situation in the import segment, though sentiment remains mainly pessimistic. Some sources note that several mills have their local purchase prices at higher levels than import prices as they currently prefer to maintain an uninterrupted inflow of domestic scrap inflow, SteelOrbis understands.
