Further increase in local Turkish scrap market

The local Turkish scrap market has continued its uptrend started yesterday, June 8. The positive sentiment in the deep sea scrap segment is also supporting the rises in the domestic scrap market. Most Turkish mills have raised their local scrap purchase prices by TRY 100-300/mt or $13-59/mt, depending on the grade. The appreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar has caused dollar-based prices to increase further, by $1/mt, for the mills that have kept their lira-based prices stable in this period.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved up from TRY 3,800-4,280 to TRY 3,820-4,340/mt, while the dollar-based quotations have moved from $442-498/mt to $445-506/mt.
