Four Turkish mills reduce ship scrap prices

Today, January 28, four Izmir-based Turkish mills have decreased their ship scrap purchase quotations by $5-10/mt as compared to the levels recorded yesterday, while only one mill has kept its price stable in this period. The general range of ship scrap purchase quotations in Turkey has decreased from $415-425/mt to $405-420/mt. Since the beginning of the current week, Turkey’s ship scrap purchase quotations have moved down by $17-25/mt, depending on the buyer. This downward revision in the ship scrap market is a reaction to the sharp decreases observed in the deep sea segment, while scrap flow from Aliaga in the Izmir region to mills is still strong.
