Ex-US scrap deal price to Turkey gets close to $280/mt CFR

Import scrap prices in Turkey remain positive as prices continue climbing. A fresh transaction has been disclosed to the market, indicating some sizeable price rise.

An Iskenderun region-based steel producer has purchased 20,000 mt of HMS I/II 90:10 scrap from the US at $282.5/mt CFR, while 5,000 mt of shredded scrap were traded at $285/mt CFR and 5,000 mt of bonus grade were priced at $290/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has learned. The cargo will be shipped in March.

According to the mentioned deal, the HMS I/II 80:20 price from the US is estimated at $279.5/mt CFR while the previous deal for the same grade and the same origin was reported at $275/mt CFR.
