Ex-Black Sea scrap prices for Turkey strengthen

According to market sources, ex-Russia A3 quality scrap offers to the export markets have increased by $10/mt in the last two weeks to $365-370/mt CFR Marmara and to $368-370/mt Nemrut. Meanwhile, the latest ex-Russia deals for A3 quality scrap were in the price range of $365-370/mt CFR Nemrut.
 
As of this week, no new A3 quality scrap offers from Romania to Turkey has been heard. Ex-Black Sea freight costs have increased due to tightness in availability of ships due to the grain season which has started in the current month.
 
Additionally, transaction prices in deep sea scrap deals have increased by $2-4/mt, providing support for Black Sea-based scrap traders to increase their scrap offers. Market sources state that Turkish buyers may prefer ex-Black Sea scrap if a shortage in scrap supply occurs on the deep sea side.
