Following the deals disclosed to the market earlier today, April 21, an ex-Baltic booking has also been announced with the HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at a similar level to the previous price.
A Black Sea-based Turkish steelmaker has concluded the transaction in question from Sweden for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at $427/mt CFR, shredded scrap at $432/mt CFR and bonus grade scrap at $437/mt CFR. Some market sources state that this deal was probably closed yesterday, April 20. The previous ex-Baltic deal was done from Denmark to Iskenderun last week with the HMS I/II 80:20 scrap price standing at $425-430/mt CFR Turkey.
As SteelOrbis mentioned in its previous report, sentiment in Turkey’s import scrap market is more positive today. Meanwhile, Turkish steel mills have concluded approximately ten deep sea scrap bookings over the past 15 days. With the 10-15 cargoes bought in April for May shipments, Turkey’s scrap import cargoes for May shipments have reached at least 30-35. Some mills are observed to have started their purchases for June shipment.
