A Marmara region-based Turkish mill has booked a scrap cargo from the US, accepting a price increase as compared to the previously disclosed transaction. The company paid $441.5/mt CFR for HMS I/II 80:20, $456.5/mt CFR for shredded and $456.5/mt CFR for bonus scrap. In the previous deals from the US and Canada, the price level for HMS I/II 80:20 was estimated at $435-436/mt CFR.
Another ex-US scrap deal has been heard in the market today, September 15, but, according to sources, it was concluded around 10 days ago. In the deal, an Iskenderun-based mill booked a full shredded and bonus cargo at $458/mt CFR.
In addition, an ex-Venezuela scrap cargo has reportedly been sold to the Izmir region in Turkey at $436.5/mt CFR for HMS I/II 80:20.
It is also worth mentioning that two more deals have been rumored in the market, one from the US and the other from the UK, but both were denied by the buyers and sellers at the time of publication.
