Following a quiet period in terms of sales since the end of May, European scrap suppliers have resumed their sales to the Turkish market. Although most European scrap suppliers have been stating that due to their costs they cannot decrease their prices to the levels of import scrap prices in Turkey, which are at $225-230/mt CFR, this firm stance seems to have softened in a deal heard yesterday, July 7. The deal in question, for 24,000 mt of HMS I/II 75:25 scrap, 9,000 mt of bonus grade scrap, 6,000 mt shredded scrap and 4,000 mt of net cutting scrap, has been concluded at $229.5/mt CFR.
