Diverse trends in Turkish ship scrap market for second consecutive week

Demand for ship scrap In Turkey's Aliaga region - the only region in the country where ship scrapping is allowed - has revived slightly during the past week. Although Turkish steel producers had restarted import scrap purchases two weeks ago, the uncertainties in the Turkish ship scrap market only came to an end at the beginning of the current week, while the ship scrap purchase quotations of local steel producers have now converged at $215/mt ex-yard. Thus, the ship scrap purchase prices of the different local steelmakers have indicated diverse trends for the second consecutive week. While the ship scrap purchase quotations of some major local steel producers have increased week on week, the other steelmakers have reduced their ship scrap purchase prices in the same period.
