A few deep sea import scrap bookings for December shipment done last week in Turkey have been disclosed to the market. None of them, however, has seen a HMS I/II 80:20 price over $260/mt CFR.
Two ex-US cargoes were closed to Marmara and Samsun region-based mills in Turkey, each consisting of HMS I/II 80:20 at $260/mt CFR, shredded at $265/mt CFR and bonus grade at $270/mt CFR.
Two ex-EU cargoes were also transacted. One lot was sold from Belgium to the Samsun region for HMS I/II 75:25 and bonus grade at the average price of $261/mt CFR. The HMS I/II 80:20 price in this deal is estimated at $260/mt CFR, SteelOrbis has learned. In addition, a German seller has closed a deal to Izmir for HMS I/II 75:25 at $255/mt CFR, shredded at $262/mt CFR and bonus grade at $267/mt CFR. According to some sources estimations, the HMS I/II 80:20 level in the deal is close to $256/mt CFR.
Ex-Baltic scrap was also sold to Turkey last week. An Izmir region-based mill booked ex-Latvia scrap including 25,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at $259.5/mt CFR and 5,000 mt of bonus grade scrap at $269.5/mt CFR.
As a result, the deep sea scrap price for HMS I/II 80:20 grade to Turkey from the key supplying region has more or less been settled at $260/mt CFR in most deals heard recently. Nothing higher has been seen in the market so far, despite the rather strong intention of sellers to further increase prices.
