Now reaching the fifth consecutive week of gains, the price of Brazilian iron ore increased in average by $5/mt from last week, reflecting once again higher prices in the Chinese spot market, despite increased ocean freight rates that typically result in dealmaking at the FOB price level.
Sinter feed fines of 65 percent iron contents are now traded for export from Brazil at $60/mt, lumps at $69/mt and blast furnace grade pellets at $105/mt, FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, the prices are now $54/mt for sinter feed fines, $63/mt for lumps and $99/mt for blast furnace grade pellets, ex-works, no taxes included.
In June, Brazil exported 31.029 million mt of iron ore (pellets excluded), 5.1 percent less than in May, while pellet exports increased by 14 percent to 2.759 million mt.
