Black Sea scrap suppliers expected to keep their prices stable

SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that an ex-Romania deal for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap in Turkey has been concluded at $220/mt CFR Marmara this week. Meanwhile, Russian offers to Turkey for A3 grade scrap are at $225-230/mt CFR, while Ukrainian scrap suppliers’ prices to Turkey for the same grade scrap are at $225/mt CFR Aegean region and at $228/mt CFR Marmara region. 
 
While Turkish producers consider Russian scrap offers to be on the high side and so prefer not to conclude deals, Black Sea scrap suppliers find it difficult to decrease their prices due to the disruptions experienced in shipments on account of the low water levels of the Don River. On the other hand, as prices of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap have decreased to $220/mt CFR in recent deep sea scrap transactions, Turkish buyers mostly prefer to book deep sea scrap instead of Black Sea scrap
