All Turkish mills except Isdemir raise local scrap prices significantly

As deep sea scrap prices have indicated a sharp increase this week, Turkish mills have also raised their domestic scrap quotations significantly to guarantee scrap flow, apart from Iskenderun-based integrated producer Isdemir. The increase recorded is within the range of TRY 150-450/mt, which is the equivalent of $21-60/mt as compared to the levels observed on December 11. Meanwhile, Isdemir’s dollar-based quotations have also increased by $2/mt amid the slight appreciation of the Turkish lira against other currencies in this period.

Following the revisions abovementioned, the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap is now in the range of TRY 2,555-3,455/mt. The lower end of the price range is represented by Isdemir, while the dollar-based equivalent of the range $326-441/mt, increasing by $2/mt on the lower end and by $47/mt on the upper end.
