Although demand for rebar in the US is described as “decent but not robust,” buyers are still largely turning to the domestic rebar market to fill inventory holes. The gap between import and domestic rebar offers remains wide, but reports of frequent “foreign fighter” deals are luring buyers back to domestic mills and their shorter lead times.

As such, US import rebar offers are trending quiet this week, with offers from Algeria stable at $41.00-$42.00 cwt. ($904-$926/mt or $820-$840/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, while offers from Mexico are still at $45.00-$46.00 cwt. ($992-$1,104/mt or $900-$920/nt) DDP Houston.
