Demand within the US import rebar market is reportedly sluggish, with orders being booked “only if the price is right,” according to sources. However, most import rebar offers are steady week-on-week, with offers for imported rebar in the US domestic market from Turkey still trending at $28.50-$29.50 cwt. ($570-$590/nt or $628-$650/mt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.

Typically, US rebar buyers who think import offers for future arrivals are on the high side have an alternative source with import positions already at US ports, but a dearth of arrivals from usual sources in November has removed that option for many buyers. US import permit data show only 33,911 mt of rebar arriving in the US so far this month, almost entirely from Spain. Turkey, Italy, Brazil, and Russia are responsible for virtually zero tons in rebar import permits in November.
